There are currently four (4) mobile service companies in Ghana - areeba (soon to become MTN), tiGO, ONETouch and KASAPA!

Amongst these four, I have used three within three years. I started with tigo (previously buzz) then areeba (previously spacefon) and then onetouch.

For me, they all have their pluses and minuses, but the best among them all is TIGO and the worst is of course Areeba.

It is true they have the highest subscriber base in Ghana so one might think they are the best option. But NO!

Why?

Let me answer that!

Why should they provide some services at very high cost to some section of the public for business purposes and later provide that same service to the other section of the same public who are supposed to get that service from those who acquired the service at higher cost? No don't say it is business; that is cheating!

For services, lets take it one-by-one:

GPRS:
Whereas onetouch provides you with this service, the moment you switch on your gprs compatible phone with a onetouch sim card, You would have to specially order it from Areeba at a far higher cost, before they make it available to you.

MMS:
Areeba claim to have MMS, but several times I have called their customer service centre to receive this service, but to no avail. They are even struggling with it!

Voicemail:
Spacefon was unable to sustain it. Areeba has not improved.

The list can go on and on, but I believe my point is well-made; Areeba is bogus!
