The presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom recently named his campaign team for the battle to the Flagstaff house in 2009. |
Conspicuously missing from the list is the failed presidential candidate of the party in the 2004 election, Mr. George Opesika Aggudey.
Dr. Nduom explained that he left his defeated contender in the party’s last congress out because, “Mr. Aggudey is having so many personal and business difficulties that he needs time to solve those problems”. He was speaking on Metro TV’s programme ‘Good Evening Ghana’.
Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom wished Mr. Aggudey well and hoped he would be able to take care of his problems and join the team fully to assist in the presidential bid.
The members of the team are Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa, Bright Oblitei Akwetey, Dr. Kwaku Osafo, Dr. F.W.A Akuffo, Kwaw Ansah, Dr Al-Hassan Abubakar, Susan Adu Amankwah, Christina Baidoo, Kate Kankam Kosi Dedey, Appiah Amankwah, Ekow Duncan, Nana Dumfeh, Abu Forgor and Asare Bediako and it is chaired by Eric Benyarko. General Secretary, Ivor Kobina Greenstreet was named as the chairman of the national parliamentary campaign team.
The CPP presidential candidate said he was confident that the team would ably support him in his presidential ambition.
“It is a blend of competent people made up of people with good corporate experience, good political experience and good professional experience… I know they are going to do a good job,”
Dr. Nduom paid tribute to past and present governments for their contribution to the development of Ghana and said it is time for the CPP to be at the helm of affairs to accelerate Ghana’s development.
He said Ghanaians are now aspiring to have something bigger and greater, hence the need for a change of government.
“We changed once for democracy sake, we changed once to get our economy. We need to change for someone else with different ideas, with different perspective and with different experience to come and deliver to us what we need in our individual pockets.”
