The NDC Member of Parliament for Kpone Katamanso, Mr. Joseph Afotey Laryea has been embroiled in allegations of a sex scandal.
The MP was accused by one Williams of sleeping with his wife.

Mr Laryea has denied the charges and claimed he was rather assaulted by the enraged husband of a lady he was just listening to.

He said he had reported the assault case to the Sakumono Police.

The husband of the lady a few minutes after the MP lodged his complaint also went to the Police Station to lodge a complaint in which he claimed Mr Laryea had taken away his wife.

The Tema Police Commander, District Commissioner of Police Nicholas Kudalor confirmed the incident to Joy News and said it happened about two weeks ago.

He said the two men involved had lodged complaints with the Sakomono Police following the scuffle at the hotel.

He noted that investigations, however, failed to establish an offence against either of the two men.

According the Police Commander, there was neither any evidence that the MP slept with the woman nor assault as the MP claimed.

He said the police could therefore not charge either of them for any offence stressing that if they were not satisfied they could file a civil suit at the court.

Explaining the controversy to Joy News, Mr. Laryea said he had a call from the lady seeking audience with him.

“The lady called me and because she is related to John Mahama, I decided to give her attention so I told her to call me the next day because I was busy”, he added.

The MP said the lady called him ten minutes later to say she was at a junction waiting for him.

In a spirit of public service he went and picked the lady and drove towards the Spintex junction so as to listen to the lady, he said.

While driving he said he observed a vehicle following him and sensing danger, he branched into Sakumono.

"Still the car was still following me. I thought it was armed robbers so I decided to drive at top speed so that I couldn dodge whoever was following me.

"Then I realised I have a friend who owns a guest house somewhere so I would rather go there and listen to her", he stated.

He said while sitting at the place the husband of the lady in the company of another came and a scuffle ensued.

"I rushed to the police and reported the matter to them", heintimated.

Mr. Laryea said a text was sent to Former President Rawlings who confronted him over the issue.

The MP vowed his innocence and appealed to his colleague MPs to becareful with the people they deal with.
