The Chiefs and people of Ave-Avenor Traditional Areas in the Volta Region have declared their support and loyalty for the embattled Awoamefia of Anlo, Torgbui Sri III, at a New Year get-together held in Accra recently. |
The Ave-Avenor Traditional Areas, which constitute over 60 percent of land mass and population of the Anlo State, include Ave Havi, Ave Afiadenyigba, Ave Xevi, Wheta, Avenor and Dzodze Traditional Areas.
Addressing the gathering, Torgbui Gamor Ahiabor VI, Fiaga of Ave Havi Traditional Area said “we are using this august occasion to reaffirm our unswerving support and loyalty for our king and ruler of the Anlo State.
“We are firmly resolved and no amount of treachery or sabotage would dampen our spirit and sway us from the noble task of providing the needed support for the new king in his determination to carry out sweeping economic, social and political reforms in the Anlo State.”
The guest speaker for the occasion, Mr. Napoleon Agboada urged the chiefs and people of Ave-Avenor to embark on development projects that would improve their social and economic wellbeing, particularly the poor and needy.
He reiterated that education was the key to any meaningful development, and advised parents and guardians to ensure that their wards were given sound education and training, saying, “it is the best legacy for the future”.
On the leadership crisis in Anlo, Mr. Agboada, Secretary to the Awoamefia Stool said it was advisable that now that a new king had been enstooled, the various factions should sacrifice their sectional interests for peace to return to Anlo because vicious campaigns would only bring hate, bitterness and division.
Torgbui Dukluattipoe, Chief of Anyako, who deputized for Torgbui Sri, praised the chiefs and people of Ave-Avenor for their resolve to back the new king and ruler of Anlo State, and asked all people of Anlo descent to bury their differences and give peace a chance.
He said the enstoolment of Torgbui Sri III was not by chance but by divine providence for the great heritage of Anlo, urging the people to be calm and circumspect.
Torgbui Attipoe assured the people that petty rivalries, power struggles and unco-operative attitudes that had threatened the development of Anlo would soon be history because the new king had already embarked on reconciliation and peace initiatives to unify the whole Anlo.
The Chairman for the occasion, Mr. Raphael Abodakpi, an Industrial Relations Consultant, also advised the people to avoid confrontational way of resolving crises and always use negotiations, dialogues and conferences.
