Ama Sumani to be buried April 25 |

The cancer patient, Ama Sumani, who died a week ago while undergoing treatment at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, will be buried in Wenchi in the Brong-Ahafo region on April 25. |
The 32-year-old widow, who was deported from her sick bed in the United Kingdom in January, following the expiration of her visa, is survived by a daughter, Mary and a son, Samet who are in the Senior High School and Primary two, respectively, at Techiman in the Brong-Ahafo region.
Speaking to the Times on phone yesterday, a brother of the deceased, Kofi Darko said the body was still at the mortuary waiting to be conveyed to Wenchi for the final funeral rites.
He said before the death of the late Ms Sumani, some contributions had come from donors for her medical bills.
"As it is now, the money we have gotten will be used to perform the funeral rites," he said.
Mr Darko thanked all who have in diverse ways supported his late sister.
The Public Relations Officer of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where Ms Sumani had been receiving dialysis treatment said the cause of her death could only be confirmed after a post morten.
"I am not privy to any postmortem report and so I will not be able to tell exactly what she died of", he told the Times.
Donations by a Dutch woman based in Wales and Citi FM, a local radio station, made it possible for her to pay for the treatment for six months.
The plight of Ms Sumani attracted local and international attention but appeals for her to return to continue with the treatment were refused by the British immigration authorities.
