The Okyehene, Osagyefo Amotia Ofori Panin, has called on African leaders to speak out against injustices on the African continent in order to move it forward.
He said, "Former South African President Nelson Mandela spoke out against apartheid and now we have a better South Africa for which the whole world is proud of, and the late Martin Luther King spoke out against racism in the USA and now the USA can boost of an African-American possibly becoming a president."

Osagyefo Ofori Panin was speaking at a durbar of chiefs organised in honour of the visiting Sierra Leonean President, Ernest Bai Koroma, at the Ofori Panin Fie at Kibi on Sunday.

He said the African continent is faced with the problem of poverty, inadequate health care and inefficient educational system and African leaders need to work hard to ensure that, together, they build a continent that the future generation will be proud of.

Osagyefo Ofori Panin said Africa has all the resources to make it, but what is needed is the political will on the part of its leaders to succeed, and called for the raising of the level of tolerance among African politicians.

President Koroma said Sierra Leone used to have difficulties in the past but it is now a safe and peaceful country.

The challenge facing Sierra Leone currently is how to improve upon its service delivery, energy supply and health care, he said, adding that the country has decided to look within the West Africa sub-region for support.

He therefore, invited interested Ghanaian business persons to invest in the country, saying that with the right investment, Sierra Leone can be the best tourist destination and mining country in Africa.

He commended the chiefs and people of the Akyem Abuakwa state for their role in the political history of Ghana and the African continent.

In a welcome address, the Apagyahene of Akyem Abuakwa, Nana Asante Bediatuo, narrated the history of Akyem Abuakwa and the contribution of its citizens to the political development of the country.

He said Kibi, the headquarters of the traditional area, is small geographically and in terms of population, but great in its contribution to the political history of Ghana and Africa as a whole.
