'I had no malicious intent'-Komla Dumuor |

A former Joy FM Super Morning Show host, Mr. Komla Dumor says he had no malicious intent when he broadcast a SSNIT scandal in 2002.
|
He said he broadcast the issue because it was a matter of public concern.
Mr. Dumor was giving testimony in an Accra Fast-Track High court in a defamation suit filed against Joy FM by Masai Developers.
The case involved the broadcast of the result of a 2002 investigation that suggested a collusive relation between the CEO Masai, Mr. Eddie Annan and former SSNIT boss Mr. Charles Asare.
Mr. Dumor said during the ten year-period when he hosted the programme issues of public concern were given attention.
According to him, he investigated the relationship between Mr. Annan and Mr. Asare because it was of public interest.
The investigation he said focused on public accountability because of SSNIT’s importance as a public institution.
Mr. Dumor told the court that the findings of the investigations revealed that Mr. Annan engaged in influence peddling to promote his businesses including Masai Developers.
He said he later petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) on the matter which conducted an inquest and revealed similar findings.
Mr. Dumor who now works in the United Kingdom said as natural justice demands Mr. Annan was given an opportunity to respond to the findings of the investigations on Joy FM’s Front Page programme.
He indicated that although Mr. Asare filed a writ to restrain Joy FM and CHRAJ from continuing with investigations, he failed to pursue the case.
He denied making defamatory statements against the two men saying he maintains a cordial relationship with them.
Proceedings continue on Friday April 25, 2008.
