The Electoral Commission (EC) is to hold Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meetings with regional leaders of political parties in all the ten regions of the country, from April 28 to May 2, 2008. |
According to a statement issued by the commission in Accra and signed by C. Owusu-Parry, Acting Director of Public Affairs of the commission, the meeting, which would be held under the theme “Building Confidence In The Outcome Of The 2008 Elections” is being organized by the EC with the support of Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and KAB Governance Consult.
The meetings are aimed at offering the platform for political parties to gain insight into the work of the commission and for explanations on any issues of concern..
The topics to be discussed would include Inbuilt Integrity Of Ghana's Electoral Process; Results And Challenges Of The Replacement Of Lost Voter’s ID Cards; The Forthcoming Revision Of The Voters Register - Challenges And Expectations; and The Expectations Of The Commission From Political Parties Towards Credible Elections In December 2008.
The Central, Upper East and Upper West Regions would have their meetings on Monday April 28, Western Region will have its turn the following day while Greater Accra, Northern and Brong Ahafo Regions will have their meetings on Wednesday 30.
May 2, 2008 would be for Volta, Eastern and Ashanti Regions.
Regional leaders of political parties who have not received invitations yet may contact the regional directors of the commission in their respective regions, the statement added. |
