World Vision provides girls’ hostel

Mr Samuel Agyeibie–Kessie, District Chief Executive (DCE), for Twifo Heman Denkyira, on Wednesday inaugurated a girls’ hostel for the Jukwa Senior High School

The hostel, estimated at GH¢207,000 was constructed by the Twifo Praso Area Development programme (ADP) of the World Vision, Ghana, and consists of 16 rooms for 300 students.

Speaking at the ceremony, the DCE commended World Vision for their numerous support programmes to the district, adding, “your contribution to government’s policy of poverty reduction and economic development cannot be over- emphasized”.

He told the organisation that his administration would continue working together with them to achieve the common goal of reducing poverty, and assured that the building would be well maintained.

Mr Agyeibie–Kessie assured World Vision that the access route from Twifo No.1 to their office would be routinely maintained under the assembly’s improvement of feeder roads project.

Mr Harry Adder, Manager of Twifo Praso ADP in his address said education has been a high priority area for them and that it had allocated a lot of its resources towards improving the quality of education in the district over the years.

Ms Rosemond Blay, the Central regional Director of Education expressed his gratitude to World Vision for providing the facility and appealed to them to provide more of such facilities for other schools in the district.

Nana Afrifa Ponko II, chief of Jukwa, who presided over the function appealed to the school authority and the students to always maintain the facility to prolong its life span.

Earlier, Mr Beltino Schilling, World Vision Representative from Germany, had assisted Nana Ponko II to unveil a plaque, to commemorate the inauguration of the building.
