NPP welcome Kyerematen’s homecoming
 Sample Image The New Patriotic Party (NPP), has accepted the decision of Mr Alan Kyerematen to rescind his resolve to resign from the party.

A statement signed by Mr Peter Mac Manu, NPP national chairman, and made available to the Ghana Mews Agency (GNA) on Thursday, said “over the past one week, the Chairman and elders of the New Patriotic Party, on the advice of President John Agyekum Kufuor, and the party’s flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, have been engaged in a series of consultations to deliberate over issues arising out of the resignation of Mr. Alan Kyerematen, the runner-up in the recent NPP flag bearer contest.”

“Following these consultations I, in my capacity as the National Chairman of the NPP, have issued a formal response to the letter of resignation of Mr. Kyerematen to which he has replied formally.”

The statement said the strong belief among those who belong to the Danquah-Busia tradition in Ghana politics that there is more a family than mere political grouping has ensured that the tradition remained strong, robust and inviolate.

It said “the New Patriotic Party which is the current offspring of the tradition, beliefs that no problem should be allowed to divide the closely-bonded family members of the tradition."

The statement said this quality has come to play to help resolve amicably, the misunderstanding that arose out of Mr. Alan Kyerematen’s decision to resign from the party.

It said “the party welcomed Mr. Alan Kyerematen’s decision to rescind his resignation and have put the necessary processes in motion to resolve the problem.”

The statement said the party had therefore set up a committee to resolve the problem with the persons of H.E. S.A. Odoi-Sykes, as Chairman, Mr. Akenten Appiah-Menka, Mrs. Cecelia Bannerman, Madam Ama Busia, Mr. C.K. Tedam and Mr. Kojo Mpiani, as Secretary.

It said “the National Chairman is reminding all members of the party to keep firmly at the back of their minds that, unity, stability and harmony are essential elements towards winning the elections”.

“I appeal to all members and supporters of the party to focus on the important task of working had for a resounding victory in the December Presidential and Parliamentary elections”.
