Leading members of the Committee for Joint Action have petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administration Justice through their lawyers, Deleric Consult, to carry out further investigations into the activities of the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

They are Kwasi Pratt Jnr, Managing Editor of The Insight, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, Ato Ahwoi, leading member of the National Democratic Congress, Alhaji Ramadan of People's National Convention.

In the petition, the CJA maintains that there have been serious cases of maladministration, official malfeasance and other improprieties at the secretariat and within the operational structures of the SFP, a programme financed and operated by the government of Ghana.

The allegations, according to the group's petition, are based on the report of an audit report carried out by Price Waterhouse Coopers, of which the firm recommended that further investigations be carried out.

The CJA stalwarts argue that the malpractices at the SFP were committed by public officials appointed by the government and who were entrusted with public funds and other resources but misused them.

The CJA claim the officers have been negligent in the discharge of their duties, causing a threat to the life and health of the citizenry and must therefore be punished accordingly if they are found guilty.

Kwame Amoako Tuffour, the Head of the SFP, was dismissed two weeks ago by the government following reports of maladministration about the programme.

CJA had earlier held a press conference calling for Dr Tuffour’s removal and when it happened the group commended the government.

Shortly after his dismissal, the former SFP boss hinted that he had instructed his lawyers to file a law suit against the above mentioned leading members of CJA including Ama Benyiwa Doe.
