CJ Responds To Tsatsu’s Petition |
| The Chief Justice, Mrs Georgina Wood, has responded to a seven-page petition by the former Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Chief Executive, Tsatsu Tsikata, over the conduct of a High Court Judge, Justice Henrietta Abban. |
Mr Tsikata who was on June 18, handed a five-year jail term by the Fast Track High Court presided over by Justice Abban, petitioned the Chief Justice over what he described as the judge’s bias and unjudicial conduct, immediately he was sentenced.
A press statement issued yesterday and signed by the Judicial Secretary, Alex Poku-Acheampong, said Mrs. Wood has replied Mr Tsikata, stating that the issues raised in the petition are matters "that may be determined by a court of competent jurisdiction, rather than determined administratively".
The statement said that Mr Tsikata was, therefore, advised that "the petition be placed before a court of competent jurisdiction in order that the grave issues that have been raised be determined judicially, for the appropriate orders to be made."
Mr Tsikata was sentenced after he was found guilty of all three counts of causing financial loss of about ¢2.3 billion to the state, and misapplying public property.
